On the eve of my Math exam, I was busy writing my diary (authentic diary). Having slept off at 3 am in morning (literally early in the morning), waking up for the exam in the morning was rather tough. The clock struck 7. I was busy dreaming. At last, after encountering some scolding from Dad (Words of wisdom), I woke up early morning as the clock read 8.15 a.m. There was nothing unusual in the fact that the exam was to start at 8.50 a.m. I would've woken up much later had the exam not been there. But anyway, I had to.
I was ready to go to school by 8.40. My cycle had been trying to do various things during the course of the week that was over. The pedal was bent up like a crow's beak that had been hit with a hammer. Nothing could be done at that point of time. I had to leave to school. At the maximum I had to reach the school before the exam started (now, this was getting highly unlikely was the time passed). I started off from my house with the elan of Armstrong on his bicycle. This was never going to help. On my way to school, the cycle began to pull up some ominous tantrums as I overtook a car (I really did).
Till that moment, I was really concentrated on the exam that I was to appear in. Then, I noticed a group of girls (probably of my age) cycling in front of me. It was natural that I wanted to overtake them and get some eyes to have a good look at me (the look always looks good and we know why. :-D) Then it happened! As I was increasing my speed, my cycle pulled up the most comic tantrum. The pedal came off and hit the ground and my cycle moved eerily before hitting the ground to a stop. The girls went without noticing my bravado. I was left without overtaking them. Even the car that I overtook now overtook me. I went back to take the pedal and to fit it back. But where could I put it back? The pedal was broken off completely.
The most unfortunate fact was that this happened when I was exactly half way between my school and my home. I remembered something. I was to get to my school to write my exam. Badly running out of time, with no time to panic, I started again cycling like an oarsman on one side and cycling on the other. This was never going to help the course of matters. With people on the roadside thinking that I was going crazy, I rode without any other options. On reaching the school, I was happy to be exactly on time. But, at the cost my pedal (Thank God the girls didn't see my state). The question paper was given. Fortunately I completed my exam with an expectation of a percentile of 95 or above (that was never going to be bad).
Touche'! That was an eventful morning though nothing went in my favor. After this debacle, I fitted my cycle with the best parts available to make sure I overtake the next time around though I'm sure another part of my cycle is going to rip off when I do it the next time.
