In distress and disbelief Peter lay,
Engulfed in a maze, he couldn't gaze;
Wondering, without anything to ponder about.
Time and again, someone passed by,
Without a word, without a look!
A man in his Volkswagen stopped by,
To see his state, his wretched fate.
He offered Peter money, just money
And went away, out of no haste
Without a word, without a look!
Depressed and disillusioned Peter lay
When a pauper with blistered feet came his way.
The pauper saw his state, felt for his fate
And showered him with care and love, not money,
Without any hesitancy, without any discrepancy!
Years rolled on, Peter depressed no more
The man of riches died, he heard,
But feigning tears and sorrow, how long could he?
The pauper was dead, he heard
Without any momentary lapse of reason, he cried!
'Money makes a mare go' is a familiar saying which is proved wrong, so often, so easily! So in the festive season, if you can't afford someone you know anything, just 'smile' at them. 'Smile' is irreplaceable!
