Second show in the night!

It was on my way back home after finishing a test (acid test) in maths that I ran into my cousin on the road. All he told me was to be ready at 9:30 pm to venture out. I guessed that he was about to take me for a film. I was ready by 9 pm in my formals and with a heavy jacket on (guess why? It was very chill out in the open). I didn't tell anyone about the program I had just planned. My cousin took care of it.

We, at last, left the house at 9:45 for the film that was to start at 10:00. We had almost bought the ticket from the counter when he realized something. He had no money with him and we were left with nothing but his ATM cards. Though we had the ATM cards, we were left to find out where the ATM Center was. "OMG! We won't be in time for the film!" he said. We had passed through three banks (uh, all were closed), but to our dismay we couldn't find an ATM center. It was at five minutes to ten that we came across one. He tried his card(that didn't work in that hell of a place). Fortunately, he had another card and we could eke out some money using that. In this hullabaloo, however, we reached the theatre featuring Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini'(I was into right right through the 3 hours).

The film started with a bang. I was watching it with interest. Suddenly something was said and the whole theatre erupted into laughter. I never knew what it was. No other go, I too laughed with them (Knowing Hindi very badly never helped the course of the matters). But the interesting part was the fact that I had gone for a film after 5 long years. Ghajini was an effort to applaud my feat. 5 years on, I could note each and every difference between the past and the present. I had previously ventured to theatres having torn seats and infinite bugs roaming around. It was a different experience. Now the seats made me gasp with ecstasy. I suddenly felt that I had ventured into an aristocratic life. 5 years was a big difference. It was only my first film in 5 years. My cousin had went to numerous films after that. It was he who took me the previous time too. The climax suddenly was totally different. When everyone expected the film to make them move to the edge of the seat, surprisingly, there was an element of comedy. As usual, I was too late to understand that it was indeed a joke (I was having a very tough time with Hindi. The producer could've tried dubbing it in Tamil or could've had Tamil subtitles for me). At the end of the day (well, it was past midnight by then) there was nothing queer in the fact that it was my cousin again who reminded me that the film had ended.

- This happened to me yesterday(30/12/08). I would take this opportunity in requesting you fellows to kindly avoid seeing movies in languages that you don't know. I was ready to learn Hindi(another acid test) at least for the sake of watching these films by the end of it all.

Optimism and Reality

I felt I'd taken the right kind,
And dealt with what was left behind.
Right or left, I deftly write.

I took what seemed the right way,
But a no-way was what I was left with.
Right or left, I deftly write.

I'd trodden in the rightest of the way,
But was saddened as I was left at bay.
Right or left, I deftly write.

I thought I was in the right state,
But I was left with a bad fate.
Right or left, I deftly write.

I supposed that it was my right to claim the best,
But I was left with none by the rest.
Right or left, I deftly write.

I enjoyed my wealth right away,
And left away enjoying my wisdom.
Now left with the right,
I deftly leave with reality by my side!

- This is my first attempt of penning down a poem. As a person who's written it, I carry the responsibility as to explain my work. It is all about a person who comes to know what reality has at stake for him, even when he has optimism. It carries forward a feeling of remorse by the person who feels that his optimistic approach was erring at the end of the day. REALITY AND OPTIMISM NEVER GO HAND IN HAND. Let me remind you that this is my first attempt and I would like to hear suggestion regarding my work as I'm novice to this. Do remember, no commments at the end of a work leaves the author as a dull one! Have a nice day!
